CCH@Hand includes the following tools:
n CCH@Hand Desktop
CCH@Hand Desktop is an easy-to-use tool that lets you search the CCH content to which you subscribe, the Web (with Google™), and the files on your computer (with Google™ Desktop installed). With the CCH@Hand Desktop, you can also search for CCH documents by citation, view and manage your daily Tracker News, and explore your Research Folders.
Launching the CCH@Hand Desktop
The CCH@Hand Desktop is always just a click away. To open the CCH@Hand Desktop, just use the CCH@Hand icons located on your Windows desktop, in the Quick Launch toolbar, and in the System Tray.
You’re logged in automatically, and you remain logged in even when you close the CCH@Hand Desktop.
n CCH@Hand Plug-In Tools for Microsoft Office (2003 and later)
CCH@Hand Citation Smart Tags automatically activate the citations in your Microsoft Office (2003 and later) documents and provide you with a menu of actions for each citation. CCH@Hand Search Service for the Research Task Pane allows you to search for CCH documents right from your Microsoft Office (2003 and later) applications.
CCH@Hand Search Service for the Research Task Pane allows you to search CCH and the Web (with Google™) right from your Microsoft Office (2003 and later) applications.

CCH@Hand Browser Toolbar
CCH@Hand Toolbar for Internet Explorer lets you search the CCH content to which you subscribe, the Web (with Google™), and the files on your computer (with Google™ Desktop installed) from a toolbar that plugs into Microsoft Internet Explorer — all without leaving your browser.
To activate the Browser Toolbar:
- Click the Internet Explorer View menu, select Toolbars, and then click CCH@Hand.
The Browser Toolbar is displayed, and a checkmark is displayed next to CCH@Hand in the "View" menu "Toolbar" list to show that the toolbar is active.
CCH@Hand Task Tray Search Toolbar
CCH@Hand Task Tray Toolbar lets you search the CCH content to which you subscribe, the Web (with Google™), and the files on your computer (with Google™ Desktop installed) from a handy toolbar that sits in your Windows Task Tray.
To activate the CCH@Hand Task Tray Toolbar:
- Right-click an open area on the Windows Taskbar, select Toolbars, and then click CCH@Hand. (Note: The Windows Taskbar is the area at the bottom of your screen that includes the "Start" button and includes the area of your screen to which applications are minimized.)
Or,
Right-click the CCH@Hand System Tray icon and select Show Task Tray Toolbar. (Note: The system tray is located in the bottom, right-hand corner of your screen and includes the clock display.)
The Task Tray Toolbar is displayed, and a checkmark is displayed next to both "CCH@Hand" and "Show Task Tray Toolbar" on the associated "right-click" menus.
CCH@Hand Desktop News alerts
CCH@Hand News Alerts deliver your daily Tracker News and News Highlights in an alert box that displays on your desktop. If you have Tracker News set up, you'll see a handy news alert box on your desktop whenever a news item is available. (Note: A separate alert box displays the day's News Highlights.)
To view a Tracker News or News Highlights article, just click on the item you want to view right in the alert box. The item you select is displayed in the CCH@Hand Desktop.
